"Dodge, dodge!" Adder sprinted over the slate-colored rocks of the Rue mountains. Next to him, a flash of creamy scales skidded to a stop and ended in a tumble. Where he and his cubone had just been standing, a cascade of rocks smashed into pieces, leaving a dusty heap of destruction. "Holy shit, we almost got caught in that." The pair crouched next to one another, panting. Adder looked over at Garnet and nodded. "Don't let it scare you. Use mud slap!"
The cubone leapt into action and wove up through the debris. Her trainer scrambled up the fallen rocks in pursuit of the geodude that they sparred with. Seeing it over the crown of the last boulder, he jumped up to distract it, and suddenly found himself blocking fierce blows from the rock-type. Before the opponent caused more than a couple bruises, Garnet appeared from behind and delivered a whiplash of wet mud so fierce that it cracked the geodude's head, eroding away the hard rock.
The pokemon fell to the ground with a crash. Adder breathed deeply and then coughed out a laugh. "Nice work." He bent down to grab his knees as he caught his breath. "You're getting so much better, Gar."
The cubone, too, was panting, and she skirted around the geodude to latch onto Adder's leg. He stroked her scaly back and hoisted her into the crook of his arm. "Now we can finally get to the town. Jesus, I know I'm done camping out for a few days," he grumbled, and started walking down the gravelly slope to the pokemon center. He could just see it there in the distance. It wouldn't be long before he had a meal and a couch, and that's about all he wanted after a battle like that.
