THIS IS A HORRIBLE INTRODUCTION. PLEASE WRITE A NEW ONE, VANA MY DEAREST, FOR I AM INADEQUATE.
Welcome to the Kwaidan region, where heroes and villains are born and broken. Trainers don’t just stand on the sidelines barking orders; they thrust themselves into the line of fire and taste the real grit of fighting. In this superstitious world full of bizarre creatures, impossible horrors and unbreakable courage, humans and Pokémon struggle to find, or create, themselves.
Caterwaul is a written based Pokémon forum that doesn’t hold much value in stats or levels. To excel in battle you must use creativity, flexibility and logic. But, above all else, you must tear yourself away from video game mode and consider your characters more than just pixel sprites on a gameboy screen. No faceclaims, no word count. You’re also welcomed to make a preset team.

Kwaidan
Clover Surrounded by a small woodlot, Clover is a quiet, polite town where many trainers begin their journey. The pokemon professor gifts a variety of starters to eager kids ready to venture out into the world.
Little do the townsfolk know that the professor's friend and colleague, a lab technician, also supplies fresh team rocket members with their starters.
Staghorn The tiny woodlot of Clover gives way into the ancient forest of Staghorn. Monstrous trees and enormous roots carve a living labyrinth. Be careful as you wander beneath those tangled branches. The forest is deep, dark and wide. Many lose their way.
At its heart lies the lake, Stag's Brew, where you'll find an assortment of bizarre creatures. The town, a small, homey place roughly a mile from the lake, is home to the Bramble Badge.
Rue Mountains To the west of Staghorn climbs the Rue Mountains, a long-since dead volcano. The range arches for miles and miles, high into the clouds. Pokemon-made tunnels wind through its gut, clear to the other side. They're mostly safe for travel, but it's a long way, and rock slides are common.
Settled in a bowl midway up is the boisterous Town of Rue, home of the Eddy Badge.
Feverfew Swamp South of the Rue Mountains extends Feverfew Swamp, a chilly expanse of marsh that most travelers find miserable to cross on foot. Rain and snow drizzle almost daily, mixing an unpleasant soggy slush in the muck. Because of the wind blowing in from the coast, it often freezes during the night.
The Town of Feverfew is populated by mostly cabin-like buildings, and the people are hardy. It's home to the Freezing Rain Badge.
Sorrel City Sorrel City, a huge, industrialized beast, is near the edge of the swamp. Smoke stacks and towers scrape the sky while feral pokemon, adaptive to city life, run through the alleys. The people love festivities and productivity. Often, they find the slow paced life of the country boring.
It's an active, lively city, home to the Urban Badge.
Silverleaf Coast Separated from Sorrel City by a ten mile stretch of frozen marsh, Silverleaf is the southern coast of Kwaidan. The shores are high and rocky, licked with frothy sea foam. Tourists clock to the beach whil lighthouses flash in the night, warning stray ships of the deadly cliffs. Strangers travel far and wide to seek advice from the far-sensing residents. Home of the Tarot Badge.
Wormwood Island A dozen miles or so from the stony shores of Silverleaf sits twin islands nicknamed "The Blackfly Islands". Wormwood, the eastern island, is barren and full of grey soil. The only plant-life growing are malformed birch and willow trees: gnarled, ugly things that sprout red leaves under a full moon. Not many people live on Wormwood aside from hermits who rarely leave their crumbling shacks. Even pokemon are scarce; only ghost and abormally large bug types live comfortably. Scattered along the island are human sized, stone statues of unknown origin, and abandoned warehouses.
Most travelers do not stay long after visiting the gym. Those who do claim to hear terrible shrieks and yowls from the warehouses, but when they investigate, they never find anything.

Woodruff Island Woodruff is the western twin and second of the "Blackfly Islands". Where as its sister, is bleak and dreary, Woodruff is lush. Its heavily forested with misty evergreens, and there's often a soupy fog in the early mornings. The dark forest is not nearly as inviting as the old trees of Staghorn, however. The canopy is so thick that sunlight strangles in the branches, and the scent of pine overwhelms those with sensitive noses. The same stone statues of Wormwood sit throughout Woodruff, clustered mostly around a small lighthouse that shines nothing but blacklight.
The town is very small but considerably friendlier then its sister. Home to the Shadow Badge.

Thyme Valley On the western side of the Rue Mountains is Thyme Valley, a place filled with wild flowers. The hills roll in a sea of tall grasses, unbroken by anything bigger than a small shrub. The valley is flanked by a woodlot similar to Clover that transitions into the coastal cliffs. Its a popular vacation spot for people who need to escape the rushing cities. But it's also a hot spot for trainers who strengthen the bonds with their pokemon beneath the blue sky. Home of the Binding Badge.
