Welcome to the Kwaidan region, where heroes and villains are born and broken. Trainers don’t just stand on the sidelines barking orders; they thrust themselves into the line of fire and taste the real grit of fighting. In this superstitious world full of bizarre creatures, impossible horrors and unbreakable courage, humans and Pokémon struggle to find, or create, themselves.

Caterwaul is a written based Pokémon forum that doesn’t hold much value in stats or levels. To excel in battle you must use creativity, flexibility and logic. But, above all else, you must tear yourself away from video game mode and consider your characters more than just pixel sprites on a gameboy screen. No faceclaims, no word count. You’re also welcomed to make a preset team.

A new trainer comes to Kwaidan

The ship was finally coming into port. The boy stood on the front of the ship his trusted Sandslash next to him as he looked at the new region before him. He could feel his mind racing with anticipation of a new challenge. He found this region to be interesting to say the least. He was excited and was already looking for a challenge as he turned to sandslash.

"Well buddy here we are....Kwaidan all kinds of new challenges you ready?"

Sandslash merely perked up its ears and then made a few slashing motions with his claws.

"Sandslash sand!"

Sandslash spoke excitedly. He was just as ready to challenge this region as his trainer was.

The boy walked off the boat flashing his ticket as he passed by his faithful pokemon behind him. They soon came into the town known as Silverleaf. The boy wandered into the town and as he came through the center a few boys stood up infront of him. They were obviously looking for a fight.

"Hey kid your new here aren't ya? Well how about a battle to give you a good warm welcome."

The boy merely smirked a bit as he looked at his sandslash.

"Hmph if you insist."

Sandslash jumped into the fray without even being told to do so having read his partner's signals as he had been able to do from countless battles together.

The challenger merely smiled slyly.

"A sandslash huh? Fine then I got just the thing! Go Pidgeotto!"

The flying type pidgeotto burst forth from the ball and let out a cry. The boy merely smirked and spoke calmly and rather confindently.

"Don't think that just because its a flying type you'll win....Right Sandslash?"

The sandslash let out its own cry of confindence. The challenger smirked.

"Alright then I'll go first! Pidgeotto Wing attack!"

He said jumping into battle with his pidegeotto as the boy stood on the sidelines.

The boy smirked once more.

"Sandslash dodge use quickattack to get in close and hit Pidgeotto with slash!"

The sandslash moved with surprising speed as he dodged and got in close to the pidgeotto hitting it with a strong slash. The Pidgeotto fell back towards the other side of their made battlefield as a crowd gathered to watch the battle.
